Drogba proves to be the better buy

Didier Drogba and Djibril Cisse both arrived in the English Premiership around the same time. Drogba just had his biggest season (03/04) with Marseille, scoring 29 goals in all competitions before sealing a then record signing for £24 million to Chelsea.

Liverpool meanwhile, under the guidance of Gerard Houllier had long courted the services of Cisse, who was the consistent top scorer for Auxerre. In 166 appearances, he scored an amazing 90 goals. Above all, he was blessed with tremendous pace and an eccentric flair. The move to Liverpool was finally sealed for £14 million in time for the 04/05 season.

Chelsea need some Drogba love

Fast forward 4 seasons later, and Drogba has clearly proved to be the better buy. He has become a player the Jose rarely drops from the side. Even the arrival of Shevchenko had no effect to Drogba's place in the side. He has become so integral to everything about Chelsea, that his current abscence from the side has become detrimental to their success.

Cisse on the other hand, had not become the superstar that everyone thought he'd be. He's obvious qualities; speed and flair; was apparently all he had. Sure, he could outrun anyone on the pitch, but it was glaringly useless as he did not have the footballing brain to make full use of it. Liverpuddillians world wide expected to see a Thierry Henry of their own. All they saw was a 'Jason McAteer' on steroids. In 2007, Cisse moved back to France, to continue his professional career with Marseille.

I guess breaking a leg really doesn't help

Breaking it AGAIN, doesn't help either
